About the project
The first Data Science Hackathon at the Faculty of Mathematics — 24 hours of solving a real-world insurance problem in cooperation with Ominimo Insurance.
The Student Union of Mathematicians “SUMA”, in cooperation with the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Belgrade, and Ominimo Insurance, organized the first Data Science Hackathon at the Faculty of Mathematics.
Ominimo Insurance is an insurtech company that applies machine learning to risk prediction in motor insurance. Its experts use advanced analytical methods for insurance pricing and client risk assessment. Through this project, participants explored the practical intersection of mathematics, programming, and data science.
The 24-hour competition was held on March 28–29, 2026, at the Faculty of Mathematics, Svetog Nikole 39. It was open to students interested in data science, data analysis, and machine learning, regardless of their previous experience.
Participants worked on a real-world problem from the insurance industry, developed analytical thinking, and improved their technical skills by solving a complex challenge. Applications were accepted individually or in teams of three or four, and team members did not have to attend the same university.
The qualifiers took place from February 28 to March 4, 2026. The twenty highest-ranked teams earned the right to compete in the final.
